2009 Ride-A-Thon

GOAL: $50,000

(combination of summer and fall events)

In 1982, We Can Ride was born out of a dream to help improve the quality of life for those living with disabilities, eventually bringing together that vision and the herd of horses residing at the Hennepin County Home School. Over the past 26 years, that dream has flourished as a result of the love and support it received from riders/drivers, volunteers, family and friends. Today, We Can Ride operates out of four facilities including our newest site at the University of Minnesota. We serve over 260 clients a year with the assistance of over 600 volunteers.

To assist you in your fundraising efforts, we created several documents that are available for download:

• A sample fundraising letter (one version is for riders/drivers, one is for volunteers)

• Fundraising business cards for you to hand out to potential donors

We are again setting a goal for our Ride-A-Thon fundraisers: $50,000. This money will be vital in keeping costs low for our riders and drivers, helping to take care of our horses and will be instrumental in providing for our ongoing needs. We encourage you to set a personal fundraising goal this year too. Don’t forget to check and see if your employer or parent’s employer has a corporate-giving match option! Top winners from the summer took great advantage of that resource.

Money will be collected in the barns the week of July 20, 2009. Please make sure that all checks are made out to We Can Ride and that each donation is written on your pledge form.

Each and every one of you is special! We Can Ride is privileged to continue offering our Therapeutic Horseback Riding, Hippotherapy, and Carriage Driving. With your generous support, and that of the people in your network, we will continue to serve well into the future. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!
