As a non-profit, We Can Ride relies on fundraisers and events to continue providing quality therapeutic riding programs to people living with disabilities. Take a look at some of our annual events and mark your calendars. Specific dates are available as each event or fundraiser approaches.

Chefs' Brigade Dinner

This spectacular culinary event is We Can Ride's premier fundraiser. Chef John T. Riley prepares this multi-course feast with the support of a team of over 40 chefs from around the state who bring their talents to your table. The evening is graciously hosted by the elegant Edinburgh Country Club in Brooklyn Park, MN, and begins with a social hour for guests to mingle with friends, bid on silent auction items, and sample a selection of creatively prepared hors d'oeuvres. The evening continues with a multi-course dinner and scrumptious dessert, followed by a live auction. The live auction boasts a chance to bid on gourmet dinners prepared in your home, vacation packages, and one-of-a-kind items.

Annual Tack Sale

We Can Ride holds an annual Tack Sale in the spring. You'll find saddles, bridles, halters, blankets, english, western, and all types of tack. We will take donations of gently used or new tack. Please contact the barn office if you have tack to donate.

Minnesota Horse Expo

Volunteers needed to work at the We Can Ride booth and help with demonstrations.
The Minnesota State Fairgrounds are host to the annual Minnesota Horse Expo, which celebrates its 27th year in 2009. People come from all across the region to visit exhibitor booths, view demonstrations, watch the rodeo, or just surround themselves with horses. We Can Ride has a booth with information about our program as well as horses, riders, and volunteers who participate in the live demonstrations.

An Evening at Canterbury

Come join us for the first Evening at Canterbury benefitting We Can Ride!  It will be an evening of great fun, great food, and great racing. Registration costs include cover to enter Canterbury Park, parking, a gourmet buffet meal in Long Shots (Canterbury's premier private dining area overlooking the track), your very own betting window, access to grandstand seats to watch live racing, and an opportunity to mix and mingle with other We Can Ride supporters!  There will also be fun door prizes and a silent auction at the event.

Ride-A-Thon

Ride-A-Thon is a chance for riders, volunteers, family, and friends to get involved with We Can Ride and to help make a difference. Volunteers, riders, and families earn prizes while raising pledges to support this unique fundraising event. Trail rides, obstacle courses, costume parades, and game competitions are featured in the classes during Ride-a-Thon week. Awards and prizes are given away during classes and the big winners are announced at the year-end Annual Meeting in October.

Bring your horses and bring your friends, raise some money, and join us for a nice fall ride on one of Minnesota's fabulous state trails. Ride as much or as little as you want, and have a great time with great people. There's food and gifts for everyone that participates and prizes for the top fund raiser.

Minnesota Harvest Horse Show

State Fair Grounds Coliseum
The Minnesota Harvest Horse Show has chosen We Can Ride as its 'charity of choice' and donates a portion of the proceeds raised at the Harvest Horse Show to our program. We Can Ride brings a team of volunteers, instructors, and client families to help represent the organization and showcase its programs with live demonstrations in the Coliseum. Volunteers can help out with ticket and program sales, staffing the We Can Ride information booth, or at the exhibition.

Annual Meeting and Red Horse Silent Auction

This event celebrates the end of our three class sessions and offers a chance for families, staff, and volunteers to gather and reflect on the year. The Red Horse Silent Auction provides guests the chance to bid on unique and inspiring artwork. The evening also includes a potluck dinner, award presentations, reports from each WCR site, annual financial information, and our year-end video.
